Mental Health Skills Training Service for Adults

Service Definition

These services for adults help improve their ability to live, deal with feelings, cope with problems and work well with others. The training includes information about how to deal with life challenges just as money management, nutrition, medication management and community interactions.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A mental health professional determines that the adult would benefit from skills training. You can get skills training if you are:

  • An adult with a mental health diagnosis.

  • A resident of the state of Texas.

  • Meets the financial requirements for mental health services.

  • Learn to live better and work well with others.

  • Primary caregivers get a better understanding of how to help their children.

  • Learn better ways to solve problems and interact with others.

  • Learn to manage emotions, stress, and anger and to be more independent.

Skills Training Benefits 

Accepting Medallion 4, CCC Plus, and Medicaid Fee-for-Service plans from all VA Medicaid Managed Care Organizations including Aetna Better Health of VA, Anthem Healthkeepers Plus, Magellan Complete Care of Virginia, Optima/Sentara, United Healthcare/Optum, and VA Premier.
